The streets of Brooklyn were open to all sorts of activity including street fairs, quiet parking, or to the playing of traditional or novel  street games. Here’s an example of paddle tennis as it might have been played on a street (possibly Bainbridge) in Bedford-Stuyvesant in 1935.
