Many a vacation for Brooklynites was spent in the “mountains”. Of course, we generally refer to the “mountains” as the Catskills and its hotels. But their must have been (not me) some who ventured further up north to “enjoy” REAL nature rather than “succumb” to the luxury of golf courses and nightclubs.

You could hear the cobble of his horse and the roll of the wagon wheels and the strength of his voice yelling “I CASH CLOTHES”. And he took your old clothes for cash and just about anything else for cash or just for your need to have someone cart something away. I remember those weekly or so visits as clear as day. The store...on East New York Ave. near Schenectady.
