Many a vacation for Brooklynites was spent in the “mountains”. Of course, we generally refer to the “mountains” as the Catskills and its hotels. But their must have been (not me) some who ventured further up north to “enjoy” REAL nature rather than “succumb” to the luxury of golf courses and nightclubs.

Founded in 1842, Schaefer Beer (The Dodgers “Favorite” and America’s oldest Lager Beer brewing company) moved to Brooklyn in 1915 and expanded to the size you see here in 1950. It closed it’s doors in NYC in 1976. The label still exists but…
