Many a vacation for Brooklynites was spent in the “mountains”. Of course, we generally refer to the “mountains” as the Catskills and its hotels. But their must have been (not me) some who ventured further up north to “enjoy” REAL nature rather than “succumb” to the luxury of golf courses and nightclubs.

Fresh fish right from the bay. That’s Sheepshead Bay of course. And this store and others stores and restaurants lined Emmons Ave. back in the 30’s and many are still going strong. The boats still go out and the fish still get caught. The action at the Bay is still the stuff that makes Brooklyn.
