YES...There was a time when much of Brooklyn was fueled by coal and the ice box needed ice.. I can’t say I remember the ice box but I certainly remember the coal delivery truck at my apartment house on Ave. I. Rubel Company's plant was in East New York off Atlantic Avenue. It’s coal concrete bunkers made a powerful impact on the flat landscape of the area. |
