A little history... In 1897, the Steeplechase amusement park was opened by George Tilyou our famed Brooklyn entrepreneur. Shortly after the park was opened, the famed Steeplechase horses made their debut racing around the main pavilion, an 1,100 foot course, propelled by gravity.
