The Brooklyn Navy Yard ("the Yard") is now a 260 acre industrial park located on the East River on the Brooklyn waterfront between the Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. But from 1801 until the mid-1960's, the Yard was one of the US Navy's premier shipbuilding and ship repair facilities.
